Did you know that 76% of Habitat For Humanity's homeowners at DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs are women-led households? Women are unjustly denied access to affordable homeownership. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance, the hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high. The overall goal for Women Build this year is $200,000 to directly impact affordable homeownership in our region, and why my person goal is $500. In supporting Women Build, not only are you investing in affordable housing, you are also helping to build strong and stable neighborhoods where women homeowners can thrive, and create generational wealth for their children which will create a lasting impact for years to come. I am excited to be working on townhomes in Hanover Park this October, so close to my childhood home, as we turn a build site into a home.
